Eligibility Standards for the CGPA® Designation
The Certified Global Professional Accountant (CGPA®) designation is awarded to professionals who meet established academic, experiential, and assessment requirements. These standards ensure that credential holders possess the foundational knowledge, professional exposure, and demonstrated competence necessary to uphold the integrity and global credibility of the designation.
Applicants seeking to use the CGPA® title must satisfy the following requirements.
Academic Qualification
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Management Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline from a recognized institution. This academic foundation ensures readiness to engage with advanced professional-level content and assessment standards.
Professional Experience
Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years of relevant managerial accounting or finance experience. This experience may be accumulated before, during, or after completion of the CGPA® program. Practical exposure ensures that candidates possess applied knowledge and professional maturity aligned with the responsibilities of the designation.
Program Completion and Assessment
To qualify for certification, candidates must successfully complete the CGPA® curriculum and required assessments, culminating in the official CGPA® examinations. Successful performance confirms technical competence, analytical capability, and professional readiness.
Exemption Policy
Graduates of the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Program who have completed at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience may qualify for full exemption from the CGPA® examinations, subject to verification and institutional approval. This recognition acknowledges prior certification and professional standing.
